MTV: Babs, what’s it been like jumping into the team?
Babs Tarr: The whole thing has been pretty surreal! I was surprised, as a newcomer, at how super welcoming and collaborative everyone has been! Being approached to do “Batgirl” and being met with such open arms toward my art style and ideas has just been beyond my wildest imagination. “Batgirl” will be my first comic, and I could not be more honored and excited about the challenge! I am excited to draw Cameron and Brenden’s “Batgirl!” The story so far is right up my alley. I know I have big shoes to fill but I am up for the challenge!

I loveee her new design. She is one of the woman superheros whose costume is not overly sexualized and looks actually practical

I guess because of the retro/youthful look instead of the typical sexy reboot design, everyone really love the Batgirl costume design. Even her Batwoman costume design still looks amazing than other reboots. Anyway, it keeps her looking like a teen and still learning the ropes until she age (just like Robin) where she will take on more crimes.

I just want to point it out there, to anyone who might read, that Batgirl is, indeed, a teenager.  It's not like as if she can fight crime like Batman can.  It isn't until she takes on the role of Batwoman (which does have a very bad ass appeal to the costume) that she ultimately is able to fight crime like Batman.

Of course, just like Spider-Girl and Spider-Woman, Batgirl has many different storylines and aspects, just like there are different Batmans that exist with different storylines.  So, to say that this one design is cutesy is probably the point of the redesign.  Batgirl rarely did any crime, and she was just mainly the female version of Robin, a side kick who did little until they grew up a bit.

She was only a minor character.  I say was, since I have a feeling with this redesign that she might become more important.

(Does that mean that DC has finally picked up on the fact that women can be bad asses instead of sideline characters?)

I love the new design! I feel like it is so much more practical than a lot of other superhero costumes, particularly the combat boots, what looks to be flexible material, and an outfit made of several attachable pieces. Plus, it's flattering! For a cartoon character, at least. It can be cute, or if in the right setting, intimidating! Great job to all of the artists!

I absolutely adore the boots. I get a very humanizing vibe from these images which makes Batgirl seem more like an every(wo)man than any other superhero I can think of.
That's one of the Batman things, he doesn't have any "superpowers", I can see Batgirl being like Batman but with less funding and more social skills.

Awesome! It's the anti-New52 Batgirl! Remember when Wonder Woman suddenly wore pants? That was the WRONG answer. This is the RIGHT answer. Still haven't forgotten Oracle and Stephanie Brown though. Hoping for the best.

Well, I'm in the minority, here. And I know that my opinion isn't worth any more than anyone else's. I just feel that she is too cutesy now and looks as if she would be eaten alive by Batman's Gotham City. It's not a bad design, I just feel it would be more appropriate on someone's creator-owned project and not Batgirl.

I'll admit that I have zero experience with the Batman franchise outside of the movies, and I can see what you mean about her looking too cutesy. I can imagine her being really friendly to random citizens and having much better PR than Batman but still being able to do what is necessary regardless of how many bones she breaks. She looks like somebody that loves the population, which would in theory make her that much more violent to those who endanger it, which would create a cool contrast between cutesy yellow bootsie Batgirl and holy shit I heard something break when she kicked that guy in the face I wonder if she has any rules about killing bad guys Batgirl.

She is more like "look at me" way too much of stereotypical teenage elements in her. Goth boots really? Scene kid who fights bad guys in free time and uploading selfies on fb?

Yeah, a few (on the internet in general) portrayed a heroine/hero as not just "still a kid inside" but stereotypical brat -- non of the responsibility or determination of the protagonist were shown.
I guess nowadays some just fantasize about the super power, fame, glory...etc of superheros while ignoring their characters. It is basically vanity in disguise.
I might think too much. What do I know.

Most would laugh at a majority of the way superheros and heroines have been portrayed if brought into 'reality', so far as their costumes are concerned.

Don't really see how those are 'goth' boots, or anything of the sort. Really, they're more colored combat boots.

Then try making one?
You strung together a series of roundabout, badly worded opinions. There was no point in there except you disliked her new look and would laugh at her in public, seemingly because she looked ridiculous.

Then you start getting high-and-mighty when someone disagrees with you, and the only points you continue to make are vague and belittling.

If you want to make a point, make it. You're just avoiding it.
